Compassionate Therapy in Vancouver & Online with Paula

Sometimes life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to make sense of what we are experiencing. I offer a warm, collaborative space where children, youth, adults, and families can feel seen, understood, and supported. Together, we can slow things down, explore what may be underneath the surface, and build greater understanding, connection, and self-compassion.

A Relational & Attachment-Based Approach

With over 13 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families across Mexico and Canada, I bring a culturally responsive and relational perspective to my work. I believe therapy is a collaborative process where you remain the expert in your own life. My approach is grounded in attachment theory and trauma-informed care, drawing from play therapy, mindfulness-informed practices, and somatic approaches to support meaningful change.

I have particular experience supporting children and families navigating attachment disruptions, developmental trauma, adoption, family relationships, emotional regulation, grief, life transitions, and cross-cultural experiences. I also work with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, identity development, and major life transitions.

Child & Youth Therapy

Children and teenagers don’t always have the words for what they are experiencing, but their emotions often find other ways of being expressed. I use play, creativity, conversation, and connection to help young clients explore and express what is happening for them, while also working alongside caregivers to strengthen connection and safety.

Outside of Therapy Sessions

Outside of counselling, I enjoy exploring the beauty of Vancouver, discovering new places to eat, and learning more about the city I now call home. As a Mexican immigrant, staying connected to my family and culture remains an important part of my life, and I appreciate the ways technology helps me maintain those relationships across borders. I love spending time with friends, connecting with other communities, dancing, and finding balance through mindfulness and movement.

Paula is current accepting clients and works in person at our Kitsilano therapy office as well as online on Mondays and Fridays.
