Grief & Loss Therapy Group

We experience grief and loss not only when we experience the death of our loved ones or pets, but also through life transitions, changes in relationships, experiencing rejection, recognizing harmful patterns, and witnessing oppression and conflict around the world.  It is important that we allow space for processing grief and loss so that these experiences can be integrated, and it can be especially helpful to do so in community.

We invite you to come to our communal grief circle on Saturday, June 27th, 11am – 2pm. Here, you will co-create a safe environment with other participants to learn and discuss grief and loss, reduce isolation and stigma around grieving, increase understanding of yourself and others, increase your connection to culture and community, and leave with an art activity and skill practice.

Date: Saturday, June 27th
Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: In-person at 1892 W Broadway, Vancouver BC
Cost: $90 (includes art supplies & handouts)

A Space to Gently Explore Grief

Grieving the loss of someone we love can be overwhelming, isolating, and often difficult to talk about. This three-hour, in-person workshop is designed to provide a gentle, supportive space for adults to reflect, connect, and begin to make sense of their grief—especially as the holiday season can bring up our grief in different ways.

Facilitated by Registered Clinical Counsellor Chandramalar (Malar) Mogana Chandran, this workshop is intended to:

  • Normalize grief and reduce the stigma that often surrounds it
  • Reduce feelings of isolation through shared stories and connection
  • Increase understanding of your own experience and how others grieve
  • Reconnect you with cultural or community-based practices of grieving
  • Offer an art activity and mindfulness skill that you can take with you into your everyday life

What to Expect

You’ll be guided through reflective conversations and shared learning around:

  • Exploring grief and its symptoms
  • Exploring impacts of grief on the mind and body
  • Common existential challenges that individuals encounter after loss
  • Cultural and communal grief practices

You will also be introduced to:

  • A creative art activity (no experience required)
  • A simple mindfulness skill to support daily grounding and emotional regulation

All art materials and handouts are provided.

While this workshop is therapeutic in nature, it is not a substitute for individual therapy. We encourage you to seek out counselling services or informal supports to continue processing your grief and loss in ways that feel meaningful to you.
