We are pleased to offer online therapy to those who may benefit from them. At this time we can offer online counselling sessions to anyone who is a resident of British Columbia, Canada. If you are a resident outside of BC some provinces and countries do allow their residents to see a therapist online in BC, so feel free to reach out if you are out of province to see we are able to provide counselling services to you.
Benefits of Therapy Online
Online therapy gives you more ways to access the support you need, without sacrificing the quality of care. Some of the benefits include:
- Connecting with a therapist online who’s the right fit for you, even if their office is further than you’d normally travel
- Removing barriers that might otherwise get in the way of your mental or physical health
- Saving on travel time and cost
- Accessing virtual therapy from multiple locations or while travelling
- Reducing your exposure to illness by meeting from home

What Kinds of Therapy Can You Do Online?
Most of the approaches we offer in person translate well to a virtual setting. Here are some of the most common:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — one of the most researched approaches for online delivery, effective for anxiety, depression, and more
- EMDR — yes, EMDR can be done online. Learn more about EMDR in Vancouver and Online
- Couples counselling — many couples find it easier to schedule joint sessions virtually.
- Family therapy — connect as a household from wherever everyone happens to be.
- Trauma therapy — including approaches like IFS and somatic-based work.
- Depression and seasonal depression support
- Grief counselling
- Counselling for ADHD, ASD, and neurodiversity
- Youth and teen counselling
- Perinatal mental health support
What It’s Like Working With a Therapist Online
Working with a therapist online looks a lot like working with one in person, just through a screen instead of across a room. You’ll book your appointment the same way, meet at your scheduled time through a secure video platform, and spend the session focused on the same goals you’d bring to an in-office visit.
The therapeutic relationship still builds the same way, through consistency, trust, and open conversation. Your therapist will still ask about your week, check in on progress, and adjust your care plan as needed. The only real difference is where you’re sitting when it happens.
All sessions are provided by Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) licensed in BC on a secure, private platform.
How should I prepare for my online counselling appointment?
We recommend making sure that you are in a private and safe space for your appointment. Treat it as if you are coming into our office and make sure that you don’t have any distractions around and that no one will disturb you while you are in your appointment. Make sure that you have a fully charged device and a strong internet connection to minimize technical difficulties and delays in our sessions.
Is virtual therapy really the same as in-person counselling?
Overall, we have found that online counselling can give the same benefits that in-person counselling does. While online counselling isn’t for everyone, especially if you feel like you can’t get privacy in your home, virtual therapy has been shown in research to be just as effective as in-person counselling.
Why would I do online counselling?
Life doesn’t always make it easy to get to an office every week. Maybe you’re juggling a demanding job, caring for young kids, or managing a health condition that makes travel difficult. Maybe you live outside the city and the drive to see a therapist in person just isn’t realistic. Online counselling meets you where you are, literally.
It can also be a good fit if you simply feel more comfortable opening up in a familiar space. Some people find it easier to be vulnerable in their own home than in an unfamiliar office. And if you travel often for work or split your time between cities, virtual therapy means you don’t have to pause your progress every time your schedule changes.
Ultimately, the right format comes down to what helps you show up consistently and feel supported. For many people, that’s online counselling.
